Our two gîtes are set within 12 hectares of woodland and meadow in the heart of the Causses du Quercy. Explore the region, relax by the pool, discover local wildlife, or enjoy photography, cycling and outdoor adventures.
The Concept
Quercy Photo Holidays is located at Les Teyssonnières, our home and a place we have carefully developed to share the beauty of the Quercy countryside with our guests. It is a place for a relaxing holiday, set in stunning surroundings, with beautiful places such as Saint-Cirq-Lapopie and Cahors nearby.
In addition……we also saw the opportunity to make a special place for nature. New habitats were created for wildlife, we nurtured meadows to enhance insect and butterfly populations, and we built bird photography hides (Affûts). We are also fortunate to benefit from some of the darkest skies in Europe, spectacular landscapes, dramatic gorges and medieval villages — providing endless opportunities for wildlife watching, photography and exploration.

What a fantastic place this is right from location, accommodation and to top it off Simon & Sarah are excellent hosts they really do work hard to make your stay memorable.if you’re into wildlife this is the place for you the number of species is quite staggering , in a week I saw 20 new species of butterflies, an array of new insects and a good number of new birds , the area is unspoiled and has so many wild flowers growing everywhere . The surrounding area is truly stunning dotted with beautiful villages which are well worth visiting. Sarah runs a bike tour around the area or hire bikes and go it alone , I have bad knees but really enjoyed a morning out with Simon &Sarah me and my wife opting for the electric bikes to give us that bit helping hand, the roads are extremely quiet and in excellent repair as well as miles of accessible tracks , I really could of spent all day out on them there was so much to see along the way and having pit stops along the way for refreshments really made for a great experience. The accommodation is of a high standard and very comfortable in such wonderful settings it really is a beautiful place to relax and recharge. Simon runs photography hides on the property which are excellent even if you’re not a photographer there worth a visit just to see the amount of species visiting at such close proximity, the property is a macro photographers dream with so many subjects to point your camera at , I was like a kid in a sweet shop all week. Simon & Sarah really have put in a lot of hard work into there business and the results speak for themselves, well done to the pair of you me and Kirsty look forward to our next visit.

We had a delightfully peaceful week at La Grange gite, Les Teysonnieres, amongst towering, ancient oak trees, at the beginning of June. It was very comfortable, well equipped and had air conditioning, and we used the swimming pool in the garden. Sarah and Simon were both welcoming, helpful and extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife to be found on their land, which they had worked hard to encourage, as well as recommending local villages to visit for sight seeing and walking.
We had gone there in the hopes of photographing turtle doves and hawfinches from the excellent hides with reflective ponds built by Simon, and we were certainly not disappointed, coming away with a great portfolio of pictures, that included other woodland birds (particularly jays), butterflies and even wild boar. We would have no hesitation in recommending a stay here, whether you are photographers or not.

A wonderful stay at Quercy Photos Holidays.
The welcome was incredibly warm, despite our late arrival around 9 pm. The accommodation is brand new, spotless, and very well laid out. The bedding is particularly comfortable, with lovely sheets.
The location is a true haven of peace, right in the heart of the Causses du Quercy Regional Natural Park. On the very first morning, I was lucky enough to see three deer frolicking right in front of the cottage: a truly magical moment.
Our host was attentive and very helpful. She recommended restaurants open on Sundays and Mondays, as well as lovely walks and nature trails in the surrounding area.
The place is ideal for nature lovers: hides for observing wildlife, a pond that attracts birds and dragonflies, and even a few very cute cats on the property.

How can I put it? Everything is perfect and even more! A huge thank you to Sarah & Simon who made this place so lovely. The cottage is beautifully equipped; everything is there for a wonderful stay. Ideal for a peaceful holiday surrounded by nature. The only downside is having to leave.

Nous avons adoré la tranquillité et le calme qu’il règne dans la propriété de Sarah et de Simon la piscine était très agréable également et la région est exceptionnelle à visiter particulièrement la ville de Concots et de Limognes en Quercy…
L’agencement du gîte et les prestations notamment en terme de cuisine sont incroyables…

Immaculately presented and very comfortable property in a quiet open woodland setting. Great kitchen facilities with excellent range of equipment, well thought out. Lovely outside spaces to sit and listen to the peace and quiet – and the busy cuckoos! Wildlife around if you take the time to look and listen, or walk quietly round the grounds. Easy access to Cirq St Lapopie for sightseeing and walking; Figeac (an unexpected gem) and Cahors in easy reach, as well as Pech Merle (an essential visit). Friendly and welcoming hosts, very responsive if queries arise. Would strongly recommend.

We both agree that we have not ever had the privilege of staying in such a beautiful peaceful place in France. The gite is perfect and being photographers we very much enjoyed the surrounding nature and made good use of the hides and reflection pools.Sarah and Simon made us very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. A great deal of thought and hard work has gone into creating this wildlife haven. We really hope to return for a longer stay.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at La Grange, one of the two gites that owners Sarah and Simon have created from a lovely old barn at Les Teyssonieres. They’ve put a lot of effort into making it a comfortable place, and it’s set in wonderful oak woodland, a tranquil haven for wildlife.
As an enthusiastic photographer I had a lot of fun taking pictures at Simon’s well thought-out hides, and got some passable shots of bathing jays, sparrowhawks, blackbirds and a beautiful pair of cirl buntings – a real treat! I found a 100-400 zoom on a silent mirrorless camera a useful combination…
What impressed us most was the knowledge and dedication our hosts have for wildlife – very much in tune with our own feelings…
All in all a very enjoyable experience.

We had a very nice stay at Les Teyssonnieres. The accommodation was excellent. The hosts were friendly and very helpful. It’s a very peaceful place in the heart of nature, with lots of wildlife, whether looking through the windows or walking in the woodland. Birds, butterflies, plants and insects. Can’t wait to return in the near future.
